Concrete Decor Magazine's 2010 "Concrete Restoration"

Concrete Decor, the Journal of Decorative Concrete, is the nation's leading magazine for stories and information about decorative concrete..

Concrete Decor Magazine also holds an annual awards program called "Concrete Restoration Contest".  It is intended to display the best decorative concrete projects resulting from the restoration and renewal of old, abused, or previously treated concrete.  Our company just won this contest for the second time in March 2010.

We removed several layers of carpet and tile adhesive from a 2,650 square foot interior retail commercial sporting goods floor, performed major structural concrete repairs, and then installed an acid-stained polymer modified cement overlay that was scored into large rectangular sections to incorporate existing control joints and make the overall floor look like travertine marble.

This store is a good example of how the ancient eastern art of Feng Shui can be incorporated into the architecture and construction of American buildings to bring tranquility and peace to a busy retail business.

American Painting Contractor Magazine holds an annual industry contest called "TOP JOBS" sponsored by the Zinsser Company intended to single out and honor the best painting projects in four categories:  residential; commercial; decorative painting; and paperhanging.  We won Honorable Mention in the residential category in 2003 and were featured with an article in the May 2003 issue.  Our project was an acid  stained concrete basement floor using acid stains, water-based concrete stains, and paint.  We used various artistic techniques to reproduce a natural looking flagstone floor after tile and adhesive was removed from a 55 year old concrete slab with moisture problems.

Concrete Decor Magazine holds an annual contest called "Cutting Pictures in Concrete With Diamonds" sponsored by the NED-KUT Corporation and Diamond Products.  It is meant to display the creativity and quality possible in reproducing images, logos, and designs on concrete floors through the concrete engraving process.  We won honorable mention in 2003 and our work was featured in an article in the August/September 2003 issue.  Our project was a 2,000 square foot acid stained concrete floor with concrete engraving in a restaurant in Farmington, Hills, Michigan.  We reproduced a number of Celtic designs and patterns meant to amplify the ambience of this popular second floor Irish Pub.  We used a variety of concrete engraving tools from Engrave-A-Crete.

Concrete Decor Magazine's 2006 "Concrete Restoration"

Concrete Decor is published eight times per year and covers countertops, polished concrete, stained concrete, contractors, training, concrete homes, and decorative concrete products.

Concrete Decor Magazine began the Concrete Restoration Contest in 2006.  We won first prize for this first contest for in 2006 in the Interior Category.  We removed a failing and unsightly polymer-modified cement overlay from an interior pool patio, repaired the existing concrete slab, and then installed a new acid stained stamped concrete overlay with stenciled design meant to enhance the homeowner's furnished pool environment.  We used products and tools from over 20 companies in the process.  This project has held up well for the past  four years and needs no further attention except for light cleaning and waxing every several months or so.
