This is the main room of a
900 sq. ft. residential finished basement. The photo at left shows the
condition of the concrete at
the outset. The photo at right shows the floor after first cleaning, then
grinding to shave off the fibers used in the concrete
mix, next engraving out indelible chemical stains caused by the carpenters and
painters, and finally scoring decorative cuts to
balance the existing control joints. After the surface prep was done, we
acid stained the floor using Artcrete's "Onyx" acid
stain. The first two photos below show the relatively flat finish of the
floor after sealing with Decosup's solvent-based acrylic.
The last two photos show the luster and gloss that was created by topcoating the
sealer with Spartan's On 'n On floor finish.
