Stained
Concrete Training Credentials |
|
At Premier Veneers, we pride ourselves not only on
using the highest quality concrete stains and
sealers on the market but on having and maintaining
the best training available in stained concrete.
Using the proper application method and technique is
critical to producing an attractive floor that
closely resembles marble or other forms of natural
stone, and is free of blemishes and telltale marks,
such as drips, brush marks, puddling, and gaps in
color. This is made all the more important by
the fact that with stained concrete, you generally
get only one try. Fixes after the fact are
time consuming, expensive, and in many cases, not
even possible. |

Gaye Goodman:
Gaye
Goodman is the founder and CEO of Faux Real Floors,
one of the nation's leading decorative concrete
firms, specializing in the use of acid stain.
Her artistic approach to concrete floors is what
separates her from other providers. She spent
25 years as a fine arts painter before founding Faux
Real in 1996 in Albuquerque, NM. Gaye teaches
and writes on the art of acid staining, and is often
sought as a consultant on concrete staining projects
by architects, contractors, and homeowners in |

the design phase. We completed her seminar in
November 2005, learning how to custom mix acid stain
colors, create unique effects with different
application methods, and blend in trouble spots
through the use of artists' tints and acrylic glaze.
We stay in regular touch with Gaye regarding new
techniques and trends in the area of acid staining. |

Scofield:
The L.M.
Scofield Company is one of the oldest and most
trusted names in the decorative concrete
manufacturing industry. Their success since
1915 dramatically changed the way the building
industry, particularly architects and designers,
views using concrete. One of their most
popular products is their acid-based stain,
Lithochrome Chemstain. Originally, it was used
in Hollywood homes on new and old concrete to
produce an antiqued timeworn patina. It is
still widely used today, and the

Institute" travels the country providing
professional workshops to designers and the
construction industry on how to optimize the use of
their decorative concrete products. We took
their class on "reactive stain applications" in
November 2007, learning how to best apply their acid
stains and clear sealers so as to maximize
creativity and durability. |

World of Concrete:
Held in
Las Vegas every year in late January or early
February, WOC is the commercial construction
industry's largest annual international event.
It regularly draws 90,000 attendees and features
over 900,000 square feet of the newest concrete and
masonry products, ideas, and technologies from 1,700
exhibiting companies. It is absolutely the
place to be for any concrete-related contractor
serious about remaining on the leading edge of their
industry, and that goes for decorative concrete |

in
particular, whose popularity has just exploded in
recent years. The WOC Education Program is the
finest and most in depth in the industry and
features more than 150 educational sessions in
targeted tracks covering everything from concrete
fundamentals to decorative concrete and business
management practices. We took their series on
decorative concrete in January 2007, including
courses on acid staining, overlays, and trouble
shooting, and received their Master's Certificate in
Decorative Concrete. |
