Finished Basement Concrete Floor Before Cleaning And Acid-Staining
Finished Basement Acid-Stained Concrete Floor With Clear Acrylic Sealer And Clear Gloss Floor Finish

This project is a finished basement acid-stained concrete floor in an old home in Wheaton, Illinois.  The photos on the left show the paint spatter and overspray we had to remove prior to staining.  We were able to do that without damaging the cement on the concrete surface by using a diamond cup grinder fitted with a silicon carbide sanding disc.

We then applied Decosup Chemtone "Redwood" acid stain with a two-gallon pump-up sprayer, allowing the stain to sit overnight before rinsing the excess residue and neutralizing the floor pH.  The color took beautifully, and we applied a solvent-based, clear acrylic sealer and water-based floor finish to protect the floor and allow for easy maintenance.
