History

Premier Veneers began as a custom paint contracting firm in Romeo, Michigan in 1999. In its 2nd year of business, the company began receiving increasing inquiries from customers about what could be done with basement concrete. On one particular project, the company chemically stripped black "cutback" tile adhesive, acid stained the concrete, and coated with a clear sealer. That project turned out to be a huge success. The customer was ecstatic with the outcome, and the project won a national award for decorative finishes.

Shortly thereafter, Premier Veneers began to specialize in decorative finishes for concrete. The company grew its skills and expertise in decorative concrete through trade associations like the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA), American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), and Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC). It also became certified in the use of various companies’ products and expanded service offerings to related disciplines, such as concrete engraving and faux finishing.

This specialization led to a second large acid-stained concrete flooring project for a restaurant in Farmington Hills, Michigan. That project also won a national award, and the company's business took off from there. Over the past 16 years, Premier Veneers has installed a variety of projects for residential and commercial customers in the Detroit and Chicago areas, ranging from basement, kitchen, living room and garage floors to patios, driveways, porches, pool decks, and retaining walls to flooring in restaurants, retail stores, showrooms, office spaces, and warehouses.

Today, Premier Veneers continues to install beautiful decorative concrete flooring that is recognized nationally and wins awards - most recently, a second place award from the ASCC Decorative Concrete Council in 2016 for an outdoor pool deck, and a first place award from NACE International in March 2017 for a commercial office building acid-stained concrete floor.  Premier Veneers achieves these awards by working closely with customers on design detail at the outset of projects and ensuring they are thoroughly satisfied with all aesthetics at the conclusion of projects.

One other reason Premier Veneers is able to consistently produce such top-quality work is that the owner, Jeff Donius, is actively involved with all project installations. He has graduate degrees in government and business from the University of Pennsylvania, and business experience as an international trade negotiator with the U.S. Department of Commerce and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in Washington, DC. This experience has given the company an outstanding sense of tact, diplomacy and fairness in business.

Unlike most companies doing work in this field, Premier Veneers focuses exclusively on decorative concrete.  It no longer offers custom painting and does not pour traditional "full-depth" concrete.  It also performs many additional, related services that other companies do not, such as the resurfacing of concrete.  You can see all of Premier Veneers' offerings on the Services page of this web site.  Premier Veneers is one of the few contractors anywhere with a certification in decorative concrete, nationally, and from the State of Michigan - the only state in the country currently with such a program.
